Hi, I'm Mike I've been in the design world for nearly 30 years now, and it's still just as exciting as when I first started. I've had the pleasure of working with amazing clients on a wide range of design projects, which has kept me on my toes. I’ve never been one to shy away from a challenge, and my curiosity and eagerness to learn new things have made the work continually rewarding. My journey began at The Broadway Series, where I spent a couple of years learning the ropes before moving on to Doe Anderson, where I honed my skills in branding, particularly in logo design, print, web, packaging, and retail. I even had the opportunity to manage the design team for a while. About 23 years ago, I teamed up with a talented former ex-pat from Doe Anderson to create Relay (formerly known as Mindsalt) Design. We've been at it ever since. A lot of our clients have been start-ups, which has given us the unique opportunity to build brands from the ground up. Along the way, we’ve expanded our expertise into areas like exhibit design, architectural design, product design, and even motion design. The entrepreneurial spirit must have rubbed off on me because I decided to take a leap and co-found a side business called ModulR Design with one of our employees. For nine years, we designed and manufactured iPad cases and accessories. We also reinvested some of our revenue into experimenting with new product designs, and even dabbled in augmented and virtual reality. Outside of work, I spent ten years restoring and driving vintage Volkswagens and another eight years learning woodworking. I eventually set up my own woodshop and spent thirteen years designing and renovating my 1925 bungalow. I’m confident that these hands-on experiences have helped sharpen my skills in exhibit, product, and architectural design. Looking back, it's been a rewarding journey full of learning, growth, and creativity. The variety of challenges I've tackled, from branding and product design to woodworking and architectural design, have only deepened my passion for design. I’m excited to see where the next chapter leads.
