Waterfront Botanical Gardens
Before any fundraising or construction could begin on Louisville’s future botanical garden, establishing a strong brand identity was essential. The name “Waterfront Botanical Gardens” was carefully chosen to reflect the garden’s picturesque location near the Ohio River and Beargrass Creek, evoking a sense of place and community. The logo drew inspiration from the Kentucky state flower, the goldenrod, symbolizing the natural beauty of the region. To create an inviting and vibrant brand presence, we designed collateral for print, web, and support vehicles that showcased a palette full of colors found in nature. For the signage, we selected natural materials that harmonized with the surroundings, incorporating occasional pops of color to enhance visibility while ensuring the elements blended seamlessly into the landscape. This thoughtful branding approach set the stage for a welcoming environment that would engage visitors and celebrate the beauty of the botanical gardens.
